I really enjoyed our visit at the Prince George Public Library, and I learned a lot of valuable knowledge for when I become an educator. I liked that the library is so encouraging to teachers to bring their classes for tours and to get library cards. They seem very accommodating and passionate about helping teachers and students learn. I think this is the first time I felt a bit more at ease about teaching. Knowing all of these resources for us are available is great and it allows us as teachers to be more versatile in the ways we do teach or deliver a lesson. I think changing up the way we learn is important and can be more intriguing for students, so I am very grateful that the library is available to teachers and their students. I think the talking books would be very beneficial for students and parents that have difficulty reading. Having the ability to have the story read out to you and follow along with visuals encourages kids to learn the words as they are being read out to them. I think it is a very good strategy. I think the use of kits will come in handy as well and I appreciate that we can sign them out as teachers to use in our classrooms. I was impressed by the amount of material and resources that are available for differentiated learning. Accessibility requests can also be filled out for student who need equipment such as sensory tools so that they can be comfortable throughout their visit. This makes it realistic for classrooms to visit the library as many students need extra support to get through a lesson.
I am glad we had the opportunity to get a tour of the library and I am looking forward to bringing my future students there one day.
